I'll concede that it's debatable, but this is my rate after all and to me her discography can be easily divided in two halves: the first phase of her career, going from her debut to the first best-of "Paint The Sky With Stars", and the second phase, going from A Day Without Rain to the present day. Here is a lil guide I made to navigate her discography. While these songs give a first impression of her uptempo and ballad blueprints, they don't really represent the breath of sounds and languages that populate her albums. If we dig a little deeper, Caribbean Blue, Book Of Days, Anywhere Is and Wild Child are staples in their own right. Other than those, May It Be will always be THE ultimate Lord Of The Rings theme song, while Boadicea is the little humming tune that every hip-hop fan knows without realising. These two are arguably her signature songs.
Only Time, the lead single from A Day Without Rain, is still inescapable 20 years later and recently showed up in the charts again after becoming a meme. Ouça as músicas e veja as letras de Christmas Secrets, Dark Sky Island, The Very Best Of Enya e demais álbuns no maior site de música do Brasil. Orinoco Flow, the lead single of Watermark and her breakthrough song, is instantly recognizable for its synth pattern and "Sail away sail away sail away". Whenever I hear a lot of her early stuff, it really does magically transport me back to a whole other time of my life.Įven if you're not familiar with her catalogue, chances are that you already know at least a few songs. ha!) Hearing her so much though, every day for over a year, has made her music even more nostalgic to me. Of course, that's basically all we played in the store, too (Well, Enya, David Arkenstone, Basia, Yanni, Cusco, Pure Moods, etc.) I already liked Enya at this point, so I was fine with this. We also had a music section and sold the crap out of Enya. We sold wind chimes, diffusers, crystals, hoberrman spheres & mystical wolf t-shirts.ddd. The only thing I can figure is that the fact that I like Enya now is the result of some sort of Stockholm Syndrome-like occurance.
That was my first exposure to Enya when my mom used to play that album all the time. My first retail job out of high school was in 1997 at a US retail chain called Natural Wonders ( this Buzzfeed article.wow.) They were one those trendy, new-age, specialty mall stores. Album Rating: 3.0 I wish Enya would sail away, sail away, sail away. She's just more 'wintery' to me is another reason I think I'm really feeling this rate.
#Enya album 2019 plus#
It contains twelve tracks - ten brand new songs plus a newly recorded choral rendering of Oiche Chiuin (Silent Night) and a stunning. I really haven't listened to Enya much the last decade, so I'm excited to revisit her catalog. Enyas album, 'And Winter Came', was released in November 2008. I've gone with Enya (do I have to turn in my PJ forum member card now?) I was trying to decide between Enya & Gaga. So, I really probably only have time for one more big rate this year.
